Technical Writer

DESCRIPTION:

Kombucha Brewers International is seeking two entry-level technical writers to create content about the scientific research studies that have been conducted on Kombucha.

This position is intended to synthesize complex information and make it more accessible for the general public while citing studies from the Kombucha Research Database (KRD).The information is intended to dispel misinformation about Kombucha and its safety while also elevating the quality of information about Kombucha and its many benefits.

CORE DUTIES:

  • Review studies in KRD and generate content summarizing findings around specific themes:
  • Diabetes
  • Cholesterol
  • Antioxidant content
  • Create blog posts and other content that can be shared on KBI’s website and distributed to the membership.
  • Generate summaries of specific papers to add to KRD entries
  • Contact scientists to generate bios to add to KRD entries
  • Add new studies to the database as they become available

PRIMARY LOCATION:

  • US-Remote
  • We are based in PST but not required to be in that timezone

EMPLOYEE STATUS: Part-time, non-salary

EXPECTED HOURS & PAY RATE:
20 hours per week; $20/hr; 12-week commitment
Please Note: KBI does not petition for H-1B (H1-B transfer) or TN status for this position.REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Technical Communication, or another major with writing-intensive component and applicable scientific emphasis (biology, microbiology, chemistry, etc)
  • Prior experience with Kombucha and Kombucha Brewing preferred
  • 0-5 years of professional technical writing experience
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills – must provide samples of excellent writing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
  • Persistence and initiative to learn
  • Strong interest in and comfort with technical subject matter
  • Demonstrated ability in at least one of the following areas:
  • Prior work experience and/or extracurricular activities with a focus on writing or editing; for example, completing an honors thesis, working as a writing tutor, or writing for a student newspaper.
  • Prefer experience writing or editing content with the technical subject matter.
  • Familiarity with databases, WordPress, HTML preferred
  • Coursework in science

Database Assistant

DESCRIPTION:

Kombucha Brewers International is seeking one entry-level database assistant to organize content about the scientific research studies that have been conducted on Kombucha.

This position is intended to synthesize complex information and make it more accessible for the general public while citing studies from the Kombucha Research Database (KRD).

The information is intended to dispel misinformation about Kombucha and its safety while also elevating the quality of information about Kombucha and its many benefits.

CORE DUTIES:

  • Regular upkeep and maintenance of a clean database with high-quality data
  • Organize blog posts and other content that can be shared on KBI’s website and distributed to the membership.
  • Organize research literature according to the topic and keyword designations
  • Act as a point of contact for general questions and queries about KRD content
  • Add new studies to the database as they become available

PRIMARY LOCATION:

  • US-Remote
  • We are based in PST but not required to be in that timezone

EMPLOYEE STATUS: Contract

EXPECTED HOURS & PAY RATE:

10 hours per week; $14/hr; 4-week commitment

  • Associates’ degree or higher in English, Technical Communication, or another major with writing-intensive component
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
  • Prior experience with Kombucha and Kombucha Brewing preferred
  • 0-5 years of database maintenance
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills – must provide samples of excellent writing skills
  • Persistence and initiative to learn
  • Comfort with database maintenance and WordPress
  • Demonstrated ability in at least one of the following areas:
  • Prior work experience and/or extracurricular activities focus on administrative work
  • Familiarity with databases, WordPress, HTML preferred
  • Coursework in data science
